Spreader roll basis information

Spreader rollers spread thin plastic film and tissue wrinkle-free. They can have a rubber or silicon covering depending on the type of material to spread. The profile is shaped by helicoidal grooves from the center to the outside edges of the roller. The roller works flat and guarantees a perfect tension uniformity across the total surface. Its easy rotation guarantees smooth running of the material.

Expander roll is known as Spreader Rolls, Bowed Rolls, Curve bar Expanders, Banana Rolls, Camber Rolls, and Wrinkle removing Rolls.

Expander roll working principle

The difference between normal straight roller and expander roller is whether the axis has radian. In fact, we can think of a normal straight roller as a special expander roller with an axis radius of infinite days. In the process of paper production and processing, due to the shrinkage force of paper cross-section, the paper often appears wrinkles during operation. In the application of the arc roller, when the coil is close to the entrance span L of the arc roller, the edges of both sides of the paper begin to tilt towards the end of the corresponding arc roller, and then slowly stretch the paper to obtain the tension effect, so as to prevent wrinkling. When the paper contacts the surface of the curved roller, the edge of the paper will move further, so that every point of the paper is transported perpendicular to the roller surface.

Expander roll with hard chrome: deliver big torque, good sealing,rotate freely, not to come out of the joint, no leakage of oil.

Expander roll with rubber cover: resist of abrasion, long work life. Adopt unique structure on the both end of the roll to ensure the cover not to expansion and contract.

A spreader roll's purpose is to use its bow shape to stretch a running web laterally to prevent wrinkling. The running web that needs to be spread can be, for example, a paper web or press felt in a paper machine, or a textile web or plastic film in a converting machine.
